NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Using Facebook and social networks reduces the risk of depression and anxiety among older people, according to new research findings. Although this finding is consistent with the results of earlier studies on the impact of Internet communication on mental health, it contrasts with the quality of the impact that has been shown to be positive this time.

According to a new study conducted at Michigan State University, 63 percent of elderly Facebook users are less likely to have mental health problems.

The research team explained this effect that social networks made people in this age group more connected to the world and people around them.

According to the report published by the journal "Computer - Mediate Communications" the impact of communication across the Internet by age group and social, adolescents and young people more vulnerable to pressure and concern due to frequent use of these networks.

Americans of African descent, those who are less educated, are under greater psychological stress and are more likely to become depressed as networks become more common.
Previous studies have warned of the negative psychological impact of the networks of the intramaster and Facebook on adolescents and young people.
